The Area

THE VINEYARD
Finca Cárdaba Winery owns 30 hectares of vines placed within the Cardaba Estate with an altitude of 830m and facing South-West giving the vines an unbeatable exposure to the sun.
To enable us to make high quality wines we use our own grapes which have adapted perfectly to the area’s harsh climate and chalky clay soil to gain the best flavours from the fruit.
THE COUNTRYSIDE
The Cardaba Estate can be found in the tiny village of Pecharroman in the Valtiendas region. Of the 80 hectares in the estate, 30 are dedicated to cultivating vines.
Finca Carda is equidistant from three major towns in Castilla and Leon; Aranda de Duero (Burgos), Peñafiel (Valladolid) and Cantelejo (Segovia). Situated in a valley which opens up once deep inside it where the views of the wide Castilian Plain are hidden by its steep hillocks.
It is the small villages that define this area of Segovia. These small villages are completely integrated with the countryside. The walled ruins which surround them, the old fallen down houses and worn out roofs form a part of the views as do the thistles and the local songs and legends.
These are villages full of historic memories and filled with art from a glorious past, a painful present and an uncertain future. The spirits of these villages remain within their walls, witnesses to the dramas of their former decadence. These enigmatic and evocative villages such as Ayllon, Maderuelo, Sepulveda, Fuentidueña, Pedraza and Turegano are where legends come from and are well worth getting to know.
